Between 2001 and 2002, Advance Institute of Business General Manager Craig Hill took on a role as Manager of the Mrangalli Aboriginal Corporation in Tingha, NSW.
Mrangalli had contracts throughout Guyra Shire with the Shire Council. They tended to the cemetries in the shire, ran a succesful market garden in Tingha and operated a large motor mechanics workshop in Inverell. They also had about twenty houses operating as the Mrangalli Aboriginal Housing Corporation.
The corporation employed eighty people through the Community Development Employment Program (CDEP). Many of these were also funded to study nationally recognised trade certificates at TAFE NSW.
Advance Institute of Business took on this role at the request of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), to investigate possible frauds by Mrangalli. As a result of these investigations, ATSIC successfully prosecuted several of the directors of the corporation for fraud, and removed them from office.
This was just one of many community organisations that Advance Institute of Business has worked with over the past 28 years.
